Baby Shower Number Two

So Baby Shower Number Two was completely different from Baby Shower Number One.
This was held at my Godmothers house in St. Louis, she put a lot of energy into it and it turned out great! Her house and neighborhood is gorgeous!
Since we didn't really do any "set up" with my first one, we had fun putting things together for this one.

Take Home Candy Bar

Food Set-up

I love this galvanized 3-tier stand from Sam's club!! Will be put to good use later on in life!!

I think everyone had a good time, plus there was sangria involved so I'm pretty sure they did.

InDUCTion Day

So today starts the process, after today, post will probably somewhat seldom. I'm lucky enough to have a great support system. My mom and step dad are here for me, plus once I start in labor my dad and step mom will be on their way.
So wish me luck, hopefully sometime tomorrow we will be welcoming our baby boy!!

Due Date

Well today is the day or it isn't. I'm not even dilated, so I doubt he will be making his appearance today or tomorrow.
Things that I am looking forward to once he is born!
1) Eating Sushi!! Give me the rawest of the raw
2) Having an adult beverage! I just drool over the drink menu at restaurants.
3) Not feeling huge when I wake up in the morning
4) My lower back not popping through the night
5)(As of late) Not having swollen feet

Things I will miss
1) Getting to feel him move around inside of me
2) Having people really nice to me
3) Looking cute while fat

This is the one(okay two, I bought one yesterday) maternity dress that I bought. Got a steal on it at Old Navy, coupon plus already discounted came to $15. I do not normally shop at Old Navy but their maternity section has a good variety.
Last weekend we took our pup to the park and enjoyed some yummy Gyros

Easy Chicken Fried Rice

So I have learned a few tricks being married to an Asian-chef. For whatever reason, other then that authentic indonesian meals, I am in charge of the cooking.

Here are two little secrets to making really good fried rice
1) Sesame Seed Oil
2) Sweet Soy Sauce

Sweet Soy Sauce is thick and gooey but it makes a world of difference.

Also, a little secret is use old rice. We always have cooked rice in the frig and old cooked rice always work best, it picks up the flavor better!

Okay, okay, here is the recipe

  • 1 pound chicken, about 2-3 chicken breasts, cooked and shredded
  • 3 cups cooked rice(old is best)
  • 2 Tbs sesame oil
  • 1 small white onion, chopped
  • 1 cup frozen peas and carrots, thawed
  • 1-2 Tablespoons soy sauce (more or less to taste)
  • 1-2 Tablespoons of Sweet Soy Sauce
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 Tbsp chopped green onions (optional)

INSTRUCTIONS
  1. Cook and shred the chicken. I usually use chicken breast seasoned with a little soy sauce.
  2. Preheat a large skillet or wok to medium heat. Pour sesame oil in the bottom. Add white onion and peas and carrots and fry until tender.
  3. Slide the onion, peas and carrots to the side, and pour the beaten eggs onto the other side. Using a spatula, scramble the eggs. Once cooked, mix the eggs with the vegetable mix.
  4. Add the rice and chicken to the veggie and egg mixture. Pour both soy sauces on top. Stir and fry the rice and veggie mixture until heated through and combined. Add chopped green onions if desired.

*Side Note* I usually heat up the rice in the microwave before adding it to the skillet, that way it makes it a faster process not having to get the rice hot.

I added some sesame seeds to the top! YUMMY!

Sneak Peak

So the deal is, if he hasn't come by next Monday, I will be induced. I have a calmness about it.
Last night was hard, I started cramping and this morning they seemed to get worse. All the online information I have read seems to say that this is pre-labor.
We will see.

Here is a little sneak peak of my babes room.
Last week I re-arranged the room
But this was taken a few weeks back, I believe I was around 36-37 weeks
I'm pretty sure this was the last day I wore my regular jeans and heels.
Yesterday I experienced swollen hands for the first time! Yikes, they hurt. Thank goodness it only lasted for a few hours.

Ms. Foxy Cleopatra

This is Ms. Foxy Cleopatra, my life and I am hers.

You see, I'm a little worried about this gal, I am due one week from today and I am not sure how well she is going to receive a new being to our pack. She still has a hard time with my husband who has been around since she was only 1 (She is 8 years old)! She sits with me on the couch, she sleeps in my bed with me, she even goes to the bathroom with me most of the time.
Let me be honest, she is honestly a little brat as well. Ask anyone. She is quite high maintenance, she barks at EVERYTHING, she does not like other animals, no, not even dogs and if she doesn't know you, she won't like you. If she does know you, expect to be playing with her the whole time you are here.
I see this going two ways:

1) She completely hates the baby, is jealous and only wants my attention
or
2) She loves  Nevermind, I only see this going one way

I hope she surprises me, because if not I'm afraid that I will have to give her to my mom, but like I said, I love her so, she loves me so. We are soul mates and often cry at night thinking about having to give her up.
Anyone ever dealt with this? What should I do to make the transition easier for her?
