July's Wish List

When I first found out I was pregnant last year, I was excited that I would be having him in May(summer) because I thought: great weather, we can do things outside, go fun places. That was my never-been-a-mom expertise right there for ya.
He's two and a half month old. What can you do with a baby? Hardly anything. Did I forget that I live in the Midwest? Where most of the summer is spent in the 90s, the outside is no where for a new baby to be. Then comes this child, who by the way, hates being in his carseat and/or stroller as of late, and we can go no where by ourselves. So this summer has been me sitting at home. I'll keep my expectation of this summer for next.
Many afternoons are spent wandering the interweb, which has been me into trouble(Shop-alcoholic anonymous here) and have found some favorite things that I'm lusting over.

Weekend Floral

Fitting into your new body after baby is not easy. It is beyond a struggle and even though I did not gain a lot of weight it, your body is still different after baby regardless of weight.

I did some after baby shopping recently and purchased these fun pants from J.Crew, they are pretty comfy for my new status as a mom.

Fourth of July

Hope everyone had a safe and fun Independence Day!
We loaded up the car (Do you know how much STUFF you have to bring once you have a child?!) last Sunday and headed to Kentucky. Despite it being pretty country I do love it here.
We had a wonderful fourth, full of pool swimming, hamburg eating and horse feeding.

Approaching near Sanity

Whoa, I feel like these last (almost) 7 weeks have been the longest of my life, yet the shortest. I'm not sure if they ever tell you how hard it is to have a newborn, but I believe I will enjoy these next few weeks, months, years much more.
I promise I'll be back with outfit post soon, but getting into the grove of spit-up, easy access shirts to nurse and fitting into my new body adjustments hasn't come easy.
Things I've learned thus far:
1) Babies are hard, like really really hard. Prop goes to all the mothers out there, why did no one ever tell me HOW hard it was.
2) You really do not need that much sleep.
3) You can sleep in the most ridiculous positions.
4) Pacifiers are your best friend.
5) Gray shirts are not.
6) Going anywhere is not simple.
7) Sometimes you miss meals.
8) When your baby smiles for the first time it has to be one of the best feelings in the world.

This was when he was two weeks old. I still wasn't feeling myself and I fell in love with these dresses. So comfy!
I literally bought all the colors.

Maternity Photos

I was lucky to find a ex co-worker to do some of my maternity photos, she does this on the side so she was not to terribly expensive. We were happy with the shoot and the way they turned out!

And then a daily dose of cuteness
This little guy is 5 weeks old today!!

One Week Before

So things are finally starting to settle down.
My baby will be 4 weeks old tomorrow! It has gone by so fast yet so very slow.
I do have to say the hardest part is not feeling yourself.
Luckily I have lost just about all the baby weight but for all those moms out there you know there is a little more skin in the mid-section now.
I'll blog more about that later!

These photos were from a week before giving birth. I think what I had the most fun with while being pregnant was the combinations of outfits I was coming up with.

I found this dress about a month ago and thought it would be perfect for the hot summer days of being pregnant and even after pregnancy.
Was I right!
Where did spring go? I mean it was never even here, so is spring dead. Its suppose to be in the 90s next week. It's always in the high 80s now a days.
It is super versatile and was cheap!
